Family demands justice as teacher allegedly beats girl to death for being 'stubborn'

A primary school teacher in Ondo state, Alade Adebayo, has been detained for allegedly flogging to death a four year old pupil. The deceased, Elizabeth Wanogha, was a student of a private primary school, Falaye Memorial Nursery and Primary school, located at Fanibi area in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Adebayo was said to have accused th girl of being stubborn in class and consequently beat her to a state of coma. But little Elizabeth who was rushed to a private hospital gave up the ghost after days of intensive care.
The grieving father then lodged a complaint at the Fanibi police station. He alleged that his daughter must have died as a result of the pains and injury sustained from the severe beatings she received from her teacher.
Spokesman, Ondo state police command, Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident however urged the family and sympathizes to wait for the autopsy report before concluding on the cause October the pupil's death. Ogodo said the suspect is being held by the state criminal investigation department SCID. He assured that findings of a probe into the death will be made public soon.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wanogha has insisted that the teacher be prosecuted for murder because he callously vented hos anger on his late daughter. He appealed to well meaning Nigerians and activists to come to intervene and help the family before the matter is swept under the carpet.
None of the school officials offered tp make any comment on the matter.
