TRAGIC: 6 year old boy dies in horrible Lagos fire while sleeping at home.


A fire in Lagos that left a family terribly devastated after their 6year old son died while sleeping in one of the flats.
On Tuesday night, at about 9pm, the fire started and 10 rooms in the building located at 3 Ogunde street off Somori Iyana-Ifako were said to have been affected. The child identified simply as Abbey had 2 elder brothers who were rescued just in time as the door to their were locked during the fire causing a lot of confusion as rescuers tried to get in.

One of the eyewitnesses said "there parents locked them inside and went out. Nobody knew where they went to. The door was forced open and two of them rescued, though one of them was slightly burnt. It was while they got outside that the rescued children said their brother was still inside. By then the fire had engulfed the whole building and no one could go in again".
The director, Lagos state fire service, Rasaq Fadipe, confirmed the boy's body was recovered after fire trucks from Ilupeju and Ikeja responded to the distress call.
